Assidere

Assidere, the Latin root of the word assess, means "to sit beside." One of the most helpful ways to improve your teaching is by having a trusted colleague sit beside you and offer confidential feedback.

Scores of new faculty in our college have used a peer observation process to gain feedback about their teaching, and most note that it is a very useful experience.

Would you like a pair of trained observers to visit your class and offer confidential and supportive feedback? Your commitment includes (1) a 30 minute pre-observation meeting with the observers, (2) allowing the observers to visit your class, and (3) a 30 minute post-observation meeting. Our commitment is to deliver a confidential assessment in a collegial spirit; videotaping is also available. For more about the process, see ae3.cen.uiuc.edu/assessment.htm.

If you would like to be observed, please contact Leslie Crowley with the days and times of your class meetings.
